The great closing evening of the Gastronomy Festival was held at the Sandy Line villa in Terres Basses this Tuesday, November 22, where a chef stood out during the blind tasting: Enor Guirand, a passionate chef with a big heart. from String Beach.
Two trophies will now take pride of place at the String Beach restaurant in Orient Bay, that of the Best Restaurant in the "Beach Star" category and the coveted "Best Table 2022 / 2023".
After 12 intense days of competition, the four finalists in each category competed in a final test where each of the chefs had to offer a dish using the three ingredients chosen by the jury: plantain banana, the star ingredient of this 2022 edition, yellow poultry and lobster. The jury, made up of guest chefs from the Gastronomy Festival, then blind tasted each dish, one by one.
Blindfolded, the professional and renowned cooks called on their other senses to elect the Best Table 2022 / 2023. Playing on textures, seasonings and flavors, Chef Enor put all his heart and creativity into it, despite a significant injury during the final competition. The suspense continued until late in the evening because the mixology competition also took place during the gala.
It was Aurélie from Maison Mère who won the prize for Best Mixologist. The musical entertainment allowed the many visitors to wait before the announcement of the results which close this magnificent edition of the Gastronomy Festival. The Tourist Office, organizer of the event, can be proud of having met the challenge of offering a second edition geared towards the population of Saint-Martin. During last Monday's press conference, all the chefs were unanimous: the Saint-Martin Gastronomy Festival is a unique and human experience.
