This Thursday, August 25, Sint Maarten police intervened in two serious incidents.
At around 9am, the KPSM telephone exchange received a call about a house fire in Cay Hill. A patrol was immediately sent to Welgelegen Drive, where the reported fire started. Firefighters also responded to the call. Once on the scene, they put out the fire in the burning section of the house in question. The source of the fire is currently undetermined, an investigation has been opened in this regard. No one was present in the accommodation during the fire, so no casualties are to be deplored.
While firefighters were busy putting out the blaze, the police switchboard received a second call reporting an overturned vehicle in Weymount Hill. Several police patrols and paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver of a blue Hyundai Atos lost control of her vehicle as she tried to return home. The car then slid down the hill and overturned. The driver was slightly injured and was taken care of by the emergency services present at the scene. _VX
