The Local Mission of Saint Martin offers a free and open visit of its next exhibition entitled "Caribbean Links" from April 22 to May 13, 2022.

Liens Caribéens / Caribbean Ties, peoples connected yesterday and today / connected people then and now, is an international exhibition that reflects the complex diversity that existed in the Caribbean archipelago before 1492. The Caribbean today has more than 40 millions of inhabitants. Each island, like the neighboring continental areas, has its own languages and dialects, its traditions and landscapes. Conceived in collaboration with researchers, cultural institutions, representatives of indigenous communities, designers and members and leaders of Caribbean island communities, "Caribbean Links" invites you to explore the role that the first occupants of the Caribbean played in the world history and continue to do so. It also presents the connections between Native American cultures of yesterday and today and our contemporary multicultural communities while exploring the current impact of Native American heritage and heritage. This cultural diversity remains a living reality today. Amerindian traditions and knowledge are still very present in the daily life of the populations of the Caribbean, and this, more than school textbooks would lead one to believe. This goes against ideas of displacement and disappearance of Native American peoples. Combining local, regional and global perspectives, the exhibition focuses on the connections between past and present indigenous cultures and the multi-ethnic communities currently evolving in the Caribbean. The Local Mission of Saint Martin therefore invites you to discover these cultural riches and this precious heritage from April 22 at the former Evelyna Halley school, behind the Marigot bus station. _VX
