What a surprise for the children! Under the tree of the Espace santé jeunes, at Concordia, a mountain of gifts awaited them last Tuesday. An initiative of President Léna Constant of the Fanm Vayan association.
About twenty children from several areas of the island - Sandy Ground, Concordia and Quartier d'Orléans - were welcomed to the Espace santé jeunes to celebrate Christmas early. “All these children are followed in maternal infantile protection (PMI), they are aged between 6 months and 12 years”, explains Léna Constant. These gifts were purchased by individuals, including Alain Richardson, by nurses in Grand-Case and several local businesses. ” While making her home visits, Marlène Toma, midwife in PMI, noticed that some children had few toys at home: “We had to make a gesture for Christmas.” Didier Witczak, director of the Espace santé jeunes, therefore opened the doors of his establishment to host this event: “It's a great initiative for children.” Sharon, the secretary of the structure, kindly wrapped the gifts. The afternoon ended with a good snack and bursts of laughter.
