An earthquake occurred around 7:20 a.m. this Friday morning in Guadeloupe but also in Saint-Martin where many residents felt the tremor for long seconds.
According to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe, the magnitude is 5,9 on the Richter scale. An earthquake identified as Tectonic type. The epicenter was located 27 km west-north-west of Bouillante, 184 km deep (i.e. a hypocentral distance of about 185 km)
Guadeloupe was not the only island affected by this shock. Dominica, Martinique, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Barthélemy, Antigua and Barbuda and Anguilla have also felt the phenomenon.
It should be noted that no damage is to be deplored at the end of the shock. _AF
