Besides the plastic bottles, soda cans, papers thrown on the side, rubble, tires and other waste destined for the ecosite but fallen from the dump trucks which transport them and without being picked up on the way back, accumulate since several weeks on the road to Grande Caye. Exasperated, nearly thirty residents from several subdivisions have decided to conduct a citizen cleanup operation. They thus made an appointment last Saturday for "a big clean up of the district".
Thanks to several pick-ups, a backhoe loader and a 32-ton dump truck, they were able to clean up the road from the old college to the last houses. More than 60 cubic meters were picked up and taken to the ecosite.
The residents have also cleaned the garbage rooms and wish to repaint them during a next action.
