The Sogetra company based in Guadeloupe will soon set up in Saint-Martin. It plans to build a bitumen coating plant for road materials in Grand-Case, in the airport area of Espérance airport.
As this type of activity is subject to very strict rules, Sogetra had to file an application for registration under the regulations for classified installations with the Environment Department (Deal). Then the prefecture of Saint-Martin organized a public consultation from October 4 to November 4 during which no observations were noted.
Under these conditions, the coating plant has just been registered by the prefecture of Saint-Martin; it is an RM 160 power plant with a capacity of 160 tonnes per hour. The registration stoppage will cease if the plant ceases to operate for two successive years.
