U20 World Cup qualifiers in Florida, Concacaf area: Hard learning for the Saint-Martin selection!

0

At the end of the last two meetings lost respectively against Nicaragua (2-0) and Jamaica (11-0), the Saint-Martin selection was able to measure the gap that separates it from the high level.

The heavy, very heavy defeat recorded last Saturday against the formidable Jamaican selection should not however overshadow the good frame of mind that reigned in the Saint-Martin selection throughout these qualifiers for the U 20 World Cup organized in Florida.

The proteges of coach Henry Conner have always shown a real desire to do well. All of them “wet” the jersey each time they went out, but we must also face the facts, the step was too high against opponents used to international games.

Compare what is comparable ...

It is obvious that the level of football practiced by the selection of Mexico or even by Jamaica is clearly higher than that of Saint Martin players. Why ? In modern football today, human and financial resources are the nerves of war, one cannot go without the other (infrastructure, training, supervision… the list goes on!)

In short, Saint-Martin football still has some work to do to compete with the best football nations.

The flawless investment made daily by local educators will not be enough to raise Saint-Martin to the top of the bill. You might as well call a cat, a cat! _AF
