LEGISLATIVE ELECTIONS: The weight of votes by island

0

For the first round of the legislative elections, 24 people were invited to go to the polls in the constituency: 555% of them in Saint-Martin and 78,4% in Saint-Barth.

82% of voters were domiciled in Saint-Martin and 18% in Saint-Barth. But does this average also apply to the results per candidate? If it is logical and obvious that a candidate obtains the maximum number of votes in Saint-Martin since the territory has the largest electoral pool, is he in the middle? Does it exceed it or vice versa?

A candidate records a result equal to the distribution of votes between the two islands, it is Sabrina Rivere. She obtained 81,6 and 18,4% of the votes respectively in the two islands. Victor Paines won 99% of his 199 votes in Saint-Martin, or 197. In Saint-Barth, he only won 2 votes in office number 1.

Claire Javois and Frantz Gumbs each won just over 86% of their votes in Saint-Martin, more than the average volume of votes cast by Saint-Martin. By way of comparison, in the first round of the elections in 2017, Claire Javois achieved 72,8% of her score in Saint-Martin (against 86,3% today) and 27,2% in Saint-Barth (against 13,7, XNUMX% today).

Daniel Gibbs does not follow this same trend. He obtained 77% of his score in Saint-Martin and 23% in Saint-Barth. In 2012 in the first round of the elections, he achieved 30% of his score in Saint-Barth and 70% in Saint-Martin.

Finally, Béatrice Cazé is the candidate who presented the smallest difference: she achieved 59,8% of her score in Saint-Martin and 40,2% in Saint-Barth. (soualigapost.com)
