EHPAD: training to improve the good treatment of the elderly

"Nine out of ten bedridden people are by default adapted care upstream" affirms Patrice Gaudy, manager of the overseas branch of the Funeste-Marescotti Institute. He came to train at the beginning of April thirteen employees of the EHPAD (accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people) of Saint-Martin for four days in the principles of Humanitude.

This treatment methodology developed by Rosette Marescotti and Yves Gineste in the 80s aims to professionalize through 150 new care techniques, a real accompaniment in well-treatment. The methodology is based on three relational pillars, looking, speaking, touching and an identity pillar, verticality.

Get back in touch, encourage the elderly to stay upright as much as possible, especially during the toilet, personalize care, and above all ban forced care. These are the tools and codes of conduct to which nursing assistants, healthcare executives, and medico-psychological assistants (MPAs) of Béthany Home were introduced during training that combined theory and practice.
