It is one of the flagship measures of Emmanuel Macron's program. Bring the maximum number of students to twelve as of the start of the 2017 school year for the CPs of the Priority Education Network (REP +) and part of the REP. Saint Martin should be particularly concerned. Two of the eight public elementary schools on the island are classified in REP +, and five in REP. The rectorate recently asked to report the precise state of the number of students and rooms available for the REP + CPs. The two elementary schools classified in REP + are located in Quartier d'Orléans. If the measure advocated by Emmanuel Macron is applied, five additional CP classes will have to be created. However, there are no rooms available in the two schools. As for teachers' unions, they fear that the additional teachers granted under the "more teachers than classes" scheme will be eliminated. For the moment, the new Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, has given no official details as to the application of this measure on the territory.
