EDUCATION / No extracurricular activities at Ghislaine Rogers school: parents are fed up

0

Since the start of the school year, on September 4, 2023, after-school activities at the Ghislaine Rogers nursery school located in Grand Case are not guaranteed. Children cannot therefore be looked after from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. then from 16 p.m. to 17 p.m. as well as on Wednesdays.

Indeed, on the day of the start of the school year a sign was posted “no extracurricular activities until further notice” even though the students' parents had already paid for the service but above all everyone had made arrangements with their work. The reason? The agents have been asking for a container since Irma to have an office of their own. The Community has obviously given the agreement but until today still nothing in sight and the agents refuse to work before and after class as well as on Wednesdays. What is their status? Are they officially on strike? Are they paid?

Still, their missions are not assured. Parents of students then mobilized last week and many of them signed a petition to report the situation to the CTOS (Caisse Territoriale des Œuvres Scolaires).

What about this petition? When will CTOS officials react to resolve the situation?

The parents are exasperated and are at odds with their employers. They are sometimes forced to arrive very late for work, or even worse, to have to take the day off (without pay) to look after their child on Wednesdays.

Parents are awaiting a reaction from the Community and the CTOS in order to resolve this situation as quickly as possible. _AF
