The president of the tourist office Valérie Damaseau, also first vice-president of the COM, gave Thursday, April 12, T-shirts stamped “SXM Smile Again” to the students of the tourism option of the college of Quartier d'Orléans. They will indeed take part in the campaign of the tourist office and will be the ambassadors of a new project entitled "I am tourism".
This option, accessible to all 4th and 3rd volunteers from Mont des Accords and Quartier d'Orléans, is followed by a hundred pupils from Saint-Martin. It has existed since 2013 thanks to a three-year agreement with the tourist office and the COM which has been renewed.
“The objective is to anchor the students in their territory which happens to be a tourist island. They are not always aware that everyone is a player in tourism and that they all have a role to play, ”says Dominique Gene, professor of English and tourism in Quartier d'Orléans.
Poems, production of video interviews on tourism professions in the context of PPE, quiz on the history of Saint-Martin, production of videos aimed at showing good and bad behavior to welcome a tourist ... For the occasion, two tourism classes from the establishment have come together in the CDI to present in small groups the work carried out during workshops as part of this optional teaching.
