SPECIAL REPORT ON COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS TO SAINT-MARTIN

AMERICAN AIRLINES RESUME FLIGHTS TO JULIANA TODAY

It will only cost you € 109 to return from Miami to SXM with American Airlines today and € 104 from New York to SXM from October 16.

A large part of the affected Saint-Martinoise community has found refuge in the USA and wishes to return home. American Airlines really plays the game and offers those who want to take in prices lower than normal.

AND THE OTHER COMPANIES?

KLM END OF OCTOBER

KLM has decided to resume flights at the end of the month on Juliana from Amsterdam on Fridays and Sundays. The first flight is scheduled for Sunday October 29. Price of one way € 777 for its first flight then € 392 for the following flights. It will still be 19 days after American Airlines!

 AIR FRANCE EVEN LATER

No direct Air France flights from Paris to Juliana before March 25, 2018. In the meantime, the national company plans to route its passengers via PTP from November 4. Departure Orly 11:55 am, arrival PTP 15:35 pm, then departure at 16:35 pm in an Airbus 320 arrival Juliana SXM 17:20 pm. Price for a one-way ticket: € 665 on November 4, then € 367.

WHY NO AIR FRANCE DIRECT FLIGHTS BEFORE MARCH?

As we said above, Air France group KLM and its Airbus A330s will land in Juliana at the end of October. Why does Air France not want to ensure with its own planes several direct flights per week PARIS-SXM with stopover on return to PTP for crew change, refueling, cleaning and loading of meals? This is what was done before and it worked very well with the Boeing 747. The planes would be sufficiently filled with passengers from Guadeloupe on board at PTP and there would be no problem of profitability. When we want we can.

 ABANDONED PASSENGERS

A large part of the population thinks that Air France is not making enough efforts for Saint-Martin, and does not seem motivated to stand out in this special period. How to speed up reconstruction times if you don't have direct flights? And will the much-needed freight hold in the holds of the Airbus A320?

Who other than the national company has the means and the duty to find solutions more to participate in the return to a normal life in Saint-Martin? We had President Macron who came to realize the exceptional situation, the Prime Minister is announced, when will the President of Air France in Saint-Martin find solutions?

 IN OCTOBER PROHIBITIVE RATES

And until November 7 how do we do it? If a family decides to go home these days (roof repaired, schools reopened…) the only solution is to go through PTP. However, a one-way PARIS-PTP costs € 1228 at the moment. Obviously if you have a week to lose (when you have to get home as soon as possible) you will pay 670 €. This is where we appreciate companies that do not increase their prices within a week of departure. To this price must be added the cost of the PTP-SFG (SFG = Gd-Case) or 200 euros more. So 870 € per person for a family of 4 is 3480 €. Impossible for disaster victims, some of whom have lost everything.

It would be wise for Air France to apply a special rate such as repatriation to 264 €, until November 7, for residents or stakeholders who want to go to Saint-Martin via PTP. And avoid increasing its prices within a week of departure for flights to and from St-Martin.

 AND AIR CARAIBES?

Air Caraibes charges between € 420 and € 500 for a PARIS-PTP and better still between € 500 and € 550 for a PARIS-PTP-SFG. PARIS-SXM direct flights will resume on October 28 only once a week, unfortunately on Saturday. One way: € 530. Will there be enough places?

 UNUSUAL

Seen on the Air France website. First Paris-Juliana flight (operated by KLM via Amsterdam and Curacao) on October 29 charged € 1466 one way. On the KLM site, the same flight from Amsterdam: € 777. PARIS-AMS ticket price 160 €. Find the mistake.

 BE CONSTRUCTIVE AND FLEXIBLE

It is well known on some companies that the return ticket costs less than a one-way ticket.

So customers often take an approximate return date and sometimes change it with modification fees or else lose it if the ticket cannot be changed.

During this special period, say a year from now, why would these companies not allow free modification of return dates? It would help them to take round trip tickets without fear. And in the end there would not be that many modifications.
