On the initiative of the Headmaster, Mr. Bertille JAYER, students and staff of the LGT René DESCARTES of Cournon d'Auvergne (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes academic region), a race was organized to collect funds to offer textbooks schools for high school students in Saint Martin, following the passage of Hurricane Irma.
It was on this occasion of Mr. Gérard MONTMASSON, President of the Red Cross of Puy de Dôme and Mrs. Juliette SCARANO, representative of the Red Cross of Saint Martin, went last Monday to the Lycée Professionnel des Iles du Nord.
After transmission of complete quotes by Mrs. Maryse LAFLEUR, Social worker of the LP, the President of the Red Cross of Puy de Dôme was able to finance the purchase of a set of textbooks for 10 high school students as well as several scientific calculators.
An initiative, very well received by Mrs. Janine HAMLET, Provisioner of the LP of the North Islands who warmly thanked the donors. _AF
