Public maritime domain: COM sends formal notices to owners to remove wrecks and abandoned vessels

Following the passage of Hurricane Irma on the night of September 05 to 06, 2017, more than a hundred ships are still in wreckage and / or abandoned.

Formal notices were sent to the owners, when the latter were known and, to date, apart from occasional removal and dismantling, there are still many wrecks and many abandoned vessels constituting by their situation a potential danger to the safety of people and property, the safeguarding of the surrounding natural environment or the exercise of maritime, coastal or port activities.

All owners of these ships and wrecks are requested to take all useful measures to end the occupation of the public domain, to carry out the operations making it possible to put an end to the risks caused, to ensure the organization of the 'removal of these ships or wrecks, within 1 month from the date of signature of the attached publications.

These publications will be widely distributed, displayed at the Port, at the Marinas and on each of the ships and wrecks concerned, in the presence of a bailiff from the CAUCHEFER Cabinet and thanks to the assistance of the Nautical Brigade of the Compagnie de Gendarmerie de Saint Martin et Saint Barthélémy and the company Jonathan Boat Services (JBS).
