On February 7, around thirty young people took over the roads of Saint-Martin and set off on a wild run on their two-wheelers. They pass in front of a first police checkpoint in Grand Case, then a second in Friar's Bay but continue their course. Arrived at the Bellevue roundabout, they notice a third post made up of four gendarmes on foot and brake. The young people talk to each other and then decide to continue in the direction of the Dutch side. Everything goes very quickly and once the pack has passed, the chief warrant officer who was in front of his men, on the other side of the road, lies on the asphalt, unconscious.
"I did not do it on purpose"
"The investigations were very complicated" advance the prosecutor during the hearing in immediate appearance in the court of Saint-Martin this Wednesday July 7th. It is thanks to anonymous testimonies that the defendants were finally identified. JJ-F, who acknowledges his participation in the rally, is prosecuted for his dangerous driving without a license, while JS-F is prosecuted for the same facts as well as for having overthrown the gendarme.

VB follows the hearing by video from the Auxerre court. His right hand is constantly shaking and he has difficulty articulating. “I am a retired marathoner. My hand is shaking and nobody knows why, ”he explains with modesty and articulation difficulties. “The career of my client was destroyed simply because a young person did not want to stop,” says his lawyer.
After deliberation, the court found the defendants guilty of the acts with which they were accused and condemned:
- JJ-F to eight months suspended prison sentence with the addition of an obligation to follow a road safety awareness course worth 150 euros and a ban on driving any vehicle for one year.
- JS-F to two years in prison, including a probationary suspension of eighteen months, an obligation to work or to follow training, an obligation to compensate the victim, and an obligation to follow an awareness training course to road safety worth 150 euros. However, the court did not issue a committal warrant given the personality and criminal record of the accused. His motorcycle was confiscated and he is prohibited from driving a vehicle for a year.
The court also recognized the constitution of civil party of the victim, allocated a provision of 15 euros to him and ordered a new medical expertise. The civil interest hearing has been postponed to January 000.
