COMMUNITY: What works announced for 2019 have been completed? (end)

0

Last January, the president of the COM presented five projects which he intended to carry out in 2019: renovation of the carbets of the Orient Bay, the lolos of the seafront of Marigot, the place of the court, creation of a leisure center at the Etang aux Poissons and construction of a house for associations in Grand Case. A year later, which ones have emerged?

The carbets of Orient Bay

The reconstruction of the carbets had been shared between the COM and the restorers: the COM had to build the networks and the common parts and the restorers the structure.

Most of the carbets has been erected or is underway. Those that are completed, however, are not fully functional. Indeed, all the restaurants are not yet supplied with electricity and water.

Regarding electricity, EDF had to install a transformer in mid-December to allow the connection of carbets to the network but due to blockages the installation was postponed. It should intervene in the coming days. Restorers, however, have to open a counter with EDF.

Concerning water, the site is supplied but the subscription of the subscription and therefore the opening of the meter is an approach belonging to the restaurateurs and not to the Com, specifies this one.

Finally there is the problem of public toilets. Today the carbets site is not equipped with it. However, restaurateurs can install them themselves as long as the carbets are connected to the public sewerage network.

The COM must also also install public lighting on the site.

House of associations in Grand Case

Announced for 2019, the project will see the light of day in 2020 since it is included in this year's budgetary guidelines. As a reminder, the association house will be built in place of the old Elie Gibs school, on two levels. It will host a meeting room and an exhibition hall.

Place du tribunal and leisure center

A year ago, the COM announced the renovation of the public space at the level of La Poste, the court and the Methodist church as well as the creation of a leisure base at the Etang aux Poissons next to the new wastewater treatment plant in Quartier d'Orléans. These two projects have not yet been completed.
