During his greetings to the gendarmerie, the Minister of the Interior Bernard Cazeneuve announced earlier this week the creation of four new interregional gendarmerie intervention squads (PI2G). They will be based in Mayotte, Nantes, Tours and Reims. The minister thus wishes to intensify "the fundamental role" of the gendarmerie in the fight against terrorism.
