The president of the COM welcomes the signing of a decree by the government, on Wednesday, November 6, aimed at creating a job of vice-rector in the communities of Saint-Martin and St Barthélemy.
“This significant advance for Saint-Martin was particularly close to my heart. I have been asking for several years, first in my capacity as a deputy, then as president of the Collectivity, that a vice-rectorate be created in the North Islands, for better management of the problems linked to education in our territories. I had renewed the request to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, after the passage of Hurricane Irma, "he said in a press release.
Daniel Gibbs also thanks the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, "to whom [he was able to submit [the] difficulties [of the territory], during [their] meeting in Paris at the beginning of October. He knew how to listen to our urgent needs and put the accelerator into the process. ”
The creation of a post of vice-rector, announced by President Macron in September 2018, is a first step in taking into account the specificities of Saint-Martin within the Republic. Certainly we were expecting a vice-rector, but it is an important first step that should be welcomed by the government.
It reinforces the substantive work that my vice-president Annick Pétrus and I have undertaken with the rector of the Academy and his teams and the services of National Education, with a view to redefining the fundamentals of school education in Saint-Martin and put in place suitable systems.
This Prime Minister's decree was published in the Official Journal on Saturday, November 9, 2019, it is therefore in force and will make it possible to appoint for Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, a vice-rector, head of the Department of National Education, deputy rector of the Academy of Guadeloupe.
Finally, Daniel Gibbs invites "those of our fellow citizens who have the references to fulfill this public service mission to position themselves to respond" to the call for candidates which will be launched shortly with a view to appointment to the post. _AF
