Emmanuel Macron assured that France would “be able to turn the page on the first act of the coronavirus crisis” and the results of a possible vaccine will arrive in the fall ...

What do we know about the possible vaccine developed by AstraZeneca?

After months of worry and confinement, the “happy days” - to use the words of Emmanuel Macron - are here.

The Head of State confirmed this Sunday evening in his speech, “we will be able to turn the page on the first act of the crisis that we have been through”. Of which act: the deconfinement measures have again been greatly reduced, in an optimism displayed very clearly by the President of the Republic for the rest of the events.

And since the good news is often bundled, it was also learned that France, Italy and the Netherlands had pre-ordered more than 300 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine project developed by AstraZeneca, intended for become a priority for the European market if the tests prove successful.

We will not have to wait long to find out since the president of the French branch of this British-Swedish laboratory has indicated that the studies underway “will allow us to have results in the fall”.

“If the effectiveness is not proven, there could be different outcomes: either we can continue, have a deadline and have other results, or we move on,” said Olivier Nataf, interviewed by Franceinfo, ensuring that AstraZeneca's commitment, “is not to make a profit on this vaccine and to provide it at cost”.
