During the past week, the gendarmes handed over to the detectives of the Sint Maarten police a suspect involved in a shooting, which had taken place in the Dutch part in March 2018.
The police emergency service had received several calls on March 21, 2018, reporting an altercation between two men who had degenerated into a fight. During this confrontation, the suspect drew a weapon and fired several shots at the victim before fleeing. During the investigations carried out on the spot, the detectives were informed that the individual had headed for the French side. Thanks to cooperation with the French authorities, the suspect was arrested and placed under arrest. Pending his extradition, he had been imprisoned in Guadeloupe. After his transfer to the Dutch side, the individual was heard by the Sint Maarten detectives in charge of the investigation. The investigating judge extended his detention until Thursday, June 20, 2019. _RM
