The territorial council of Saint-Martin approved, last Thursday, by a majority of votes, the signing of an amendment to the public service delegation relating to the management of Grd-Case airport.

This involves setting up a roadway resurfacing and maintenance program (sanitation and day and night marking) of the runway and postponing the extension project.

This work is financed by the EDEIS Airport delegatee with the help of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to the tune of 2 million euros.

In addition, the Territorial Council has voted in favor of the creation of an autonomous authority for the management and operation of the slaughterhouse of Saint-Martin, pending the creation of a Public Establishment of the EPIC type.

This public establishment for the management and operation of the slaughterhouse of Saint-Martin (EPIC) will be responsible for the management of the slaughterhouse.

For the year 2021, the community will pay an endowment of 70 euros for the operation of this autonomous control.

With this decision, President Gibbs and his team wanted to be part of a strategy shared with the players in the sector and ensure that this tool can finally work with a view to developing the breeding sector in our territory.

“While it is true that Cyclone Irma accentuated the problems, the problems have persisted for much longer concerning the slaughterhouse, and well before this term of office!

Now we have to be realistic, break the deadlock and move forward in concrete terms! And above all, having the will to do what is necessary for local agriculture. We must also be aware that relaunching this sector will take time and we are acting together to achieve it, ”President Gibbs said at the meeting.
