A 34-year-old man born in Haiti appeared last week before the Saint Martin Criminal Court for cashing a check for 1 euros that was not intended for him.
JL had found in the mailbox of a mechanic in the French part a check for 100 euros. He stated that the box was not locked and that there was no order on the check. So he added a zero and cashed it out to pay off a debt.
JL was ordered to reimburse the 380 euros requested by the victim within two months. In the event of non-compliance, two months in prison will be pronounced.
