The rector Mostafa Fourar during a previous meeting with the teaching teams of the bilingual classes of the Quartier d'Orléans college had promised to sign certificates of follow-up of a bilingual education (French / English) intended for students at the end of college cycle.

However, he did not only sign the long-awaited certificates, he also presented them during a ceremony organized on Friday, July 3, at Collège Quartier d'Orléans.

Under the moving gaze of the teachers, proud of the parents, astonished by the students, attentive to the management team and satisfied with the vice-rector and the vice-president of the community of Saint-Martin in charge of education, the rector honored with his presence and his speech the 19 students of the 3rd so-called bilingual. 14 of these 19 students, had joined this education in 2016 when they enrolled in 6th.

Michel Sanz, vice-rector, retraced the uplifting journey made by these students who knew how to stay the course and this, despite a schooling disrupted by Hurricane Irma, by various social unrest and finally by COVID 19. A journey crowned with success thanks to the educational and financial support of the rectorate of Guadeloupe, the commitment of the college's management teams, the unfailing investment of teachers but also the confidence of parents in a school in the French Republic which has known take into account one of the specificities of the territory.

Eric Domichard, principal of the college, certified that the upward curve of academic results, as well as that of rewards and attendance were there to testify to the success of this sector. He symbolically gave a certificate of competence to each student and said he was impatient to find out the success rate for this class group in the DNB exam.

By way of both thanks and farewell, a quartet of students sang “Shine like a diamond”, in French and in English, expressing a feeling of appreciation.

Under the enthusiastic applause of those present and the multiple photographic shots, the first cohort which will have marked the beginning of a bilingual education at the Collège Quartier d'Orléans will have above all proven that learning in French and in English on an hourly basis in all disciplines are an undeniable driver of success in the region.

While waiting for the opening of international sections at the Robert Weinum general and technological high school, let us wish our 19 bilingual secondary school students to use their linguistic added value during their studies in Euro-Caribbean second!
