The Prefecture recalls that it does not fall within its competence to issue to foreign nationals whose passport has expired, or lacking any travel document, documents which can be assimilated to a visa authorizing them to leave their territory of residence and cross external borders, whether they are Community nationals or nationals of third States.
Also, passes will no longer be issued to European nationals whose passport has expired and who wish to go to their country of origin in order to have it renewed.
European nationals are in fact authorized to enter the Schengen area with an expired travel document in the event of transit in Pointe-à-Pitre or Paris before continuing their journey in their country of origin. They will also be asked by border control services to justify an appointment with the authorities of their country.
