Customs officials at Princess Juliana International Airport seized 9,5 kg of cocaine which was hidden and spread under the covers of children's books. The drugs were in the possession of a Brazilian, identified with the initials CWY, who had just arrived in Sint Maarten on a Copa Airlines flight.
It was during a routine check carried out last Wednesday by customs officials that the latter became suspicious when a woman was nervous during the search of her luggage. Customs officials conducted a more in-depth search, which resulted in the discovery of 50 packages hidden under the covers of children's books. The cocaine was seized and the woman was detained for interrogation so that law enforcement could investigate and determine the origin and destination of the drugs.
