The circulation of the dengue virus is weak in Saint-Martin, according to the latest bulletin from the Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS), unlike Saint-Barthélemy.
The number of clinically suggestive cases of dengue fever remains moderate in Saint-Martin, reports the institute. In our territory, the situation corresponds to phase 1 of Psage dengue (epidemic surveillance, alert and management program) in the North Islands. “Since mid-October, 57 people have consulted for dengue fever in Saint-Martin”, underlines the InVS. Only 3 cases of dengue have been recorded by the laboratories. No passage was notified to the emergency room.
Vigilance in Saint-Barthélemy
The epidemiological surveillance indicators indicate an active circulation of the virus on the island, in phase 2 of the Psage dengue. "Since mid-November, the estimated number of consultations exceeds the maximum values expected for the season," said the institute. 100 clinically suggestive cases of dengue have been recorded, and 16 biologically probable and confirmed cases.
