A solemn tribute was paid to the soldiers of the national gendarmerie, who died in 2019 in the exercise of their functions, on Monday, February 17, at the Savane barracks.
This ceremony took place in the presence of the Prefect of the Northern Islands, Sylvie Feucher, the commander, Stephan Basso, the Association of Veterans of Saint Martin as well as civil and military authorities.
This meditation takes place every year on the traditional date of February 16, dedicated since 1993 to the memory of gendarmes victims of duty. The Institution thus pays tribute to the soldiers who died in the accomplishment of their mission during the previous year.
Throughout France, ceremonies have brought together gendarmes and civilian staff of the Institution in memory and brotherhood.
