As you approach the end of school year and vacation exams, many of you want to have your identity card or passport renewed. Do not wait for the fateful date to start your process!
To avoid the influx of requests leading to waiting times that are incompatible with your exam or travel dates, the prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin invites you now to make your arrangements:
- checking the expiration dates of the identity card and passport;
- by having them renewed now, if necessary, at the civil status service of the community where you can link your application for a national identity card and your passport application, thanks to the biometric stations.
Also remember to check the validity of your passports before you travel, especially on the country's requirements regarding compulsory validity. To do this, simply contact your travel agency or consult the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: www.diplomatie.gouv.fr
Identity card, passport
Requests for the establishment or renewal of the National Identity Card and Passport, the deadlines for obtaining them are:
- 6 weeks for identity cards or even 2 months in summer
- an average of 20 days for passports
Simplification of procedures
If you have a secure identity card or an electronic or biometric passport, or if you have a valid cardboard CNI (or expired less than 2 years ago), you no longer have to provide a birth certificate or proof of French nationality.
