The talks between the future operators of carbets from the Orient Bay and representatives of the Community and Semsamar were constructive. The purpose of this technical meeting was to address the grievances of the future operators of the site. The vice-president of the Collectivité Guillaume Arnell and the president of Semsamar Wendel Cocks thus gave the floor to all the operators, in the presence of the technicians. "We have started this project to boost the French side", underlined the vice-president, taking into account all the requests, and showing himself open to dialogue to find solutions. Wendel Cocks recalled the history of the project, while defending himself as to the “lack of transparency” relating to the construction of carbets, according to the operators. Ultimately, it is the restaurant owners who feel aggrieved. “We are beach bars and no bar has been planned!” Retorts one of the restaurateurs, adding that the rent of 2.500 euros set by the Executive Council is “an aberration” for such a small “badly arranged” area. The terraces of the restaurants are covered with a simple tarp, which does not protect either from the rain or the sun, according to the restaurant owners. As for AOTs, their duration has been reduced to 3 years, instead of 5 years. To bask on this plot, we will have to wait a little longer: the official opening of the carbets is now scheduled for early February.
