0

Return to normal in May 2017 for regional telluric activity which recorded a number of earthquakes comparable to the last months, indicates the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe (OVSG) in its last bulletin. As a reminder, 1027 earthquakes were recorded in April by the observatory. In total, 191 earthquakes of tectonic origin of maximum magnitude 4,6 on the Richter scale were observed last month within a radius of 450 km around Guadeloupe.

Regarding the Northern Islands, no earthquake was recorded during this period. Note that the Antilles are located in seismicity zone 5. Since 2010, France has had a new zoning dividing the territory into five zones of increasing seismicity, according to the earthquake plan website. _EH
