After two sessions focused on sport, the Handynamic association has chosen to bring together children with disabilities around local culture.
On Sunday November 20, on the magnificent site of the Rasta farm in Bellevue, around sixty children with disabilities enjoyed a morning of cultural discovery thanks to the Handynamic association, created on July 25 and chaired by the devoted Aurélie Soucy, with the support of Métimer, Cobraced, the St-Martin Gym Club, the Football League, the Regional Academic Delegation for Youth, Commitment and Sports (DRAJES) and outside contributors. The painting has greatly interested the children with the creation of a Handyculture fresco which will soon be exhibited at the Vanterpool stadium in Marigot, opposite Pôle Emploi. The reading corner was held by Marie Jocelyne Arnell, author of the children's book "Ignacio and the mysterious egg" where the tales fascinated the little ones.
In order not to ask too much of their concentration, a coloring workshop was organized in the same space so that they could express all their creativity. A little higher on the domain, the play area with the essential chamboultou to stimulate dexterity and the sack race for balance. Music and dance being very present in Saint-Martin's culture, the Gwoka workshop came to life every quarter of an hour during which the children learned traditional dance to the sound of djembes from Afrolatin' Move. The blind test intended to make people discover or rediscover basic and local fruits on the theme of touch and taste was greatly appreciated by the young participants. The 60 children came from different organizations: ULIS system of schools, colleges and high schools, SESSAD (Special Education and Home Care Service) and the Medical-Psychological Center (CMP) of the hospital which welcomes children on a daily basis concerned. Formerly grouped into several associations, Handynamic would like to thank the generous donors, including SIAPOC for the paint, Crédit Mutuel for the clothing, the restaurant Le Pressoir for the water bottles and Suncool SXM for the tents. _VX
