ART: “Hommage Hôtel”, an open-air art gallery

The tone is set as soon as you cross Baie Nettlé in view of the garland of frescoes that adorn the exterior walls of the hotel group. Two-part guided tour of this colorful place. Let's start with the outside.

The frescoes are visible from afar and curiosity is aroused, it is impossible not to stop there. We then notice that the unity messages are multiple "we are all in the same aquarium", "I choose to be happy".

The eye is directly drawn to bright colors. The different artistic styles coexist in harmony. It is to Baki Arbia, director of the hotel and an art enthusiast, that we owe these 200 meters of paintings by artists, some of them from the School of Fine Arts in Sète. Christian Jurand, artistic agent very attached to Saint-Martin, solicits artists from his entourage after the visit of Irma in a drive to revitalize and beautify the island.

In November and December 2017, many talents followed one another such as Julia Collaro with “Flow of Life” (on the entrance portal), a tree of life which brings together all forms of life from a single source; Jean-Jacques François with "Irma in all her states" where despite the desolation caused by the hurricane, a mermaid faces a resurrection of the island thanks to the efforts of the population; Christophe Cosentino with “Little Faun with Amorous Passion Fruit” where esoteric female creatures celebrate nature; Aldo Biascamano with “One day Charlou Biascamano pulled the tail all alone” where Sète mythology comes to Saint-Martin with the appearance of Mont Saint-Clair; Philippe Loubat with “Long Courrier to the Pic du Paradis” which gives pride of place to Saint-Exupéry and his Little Prince; Lucas Mancione with “No Ananas” and its 5 suns, its sky, its mountains… and its UFOs. Let us not forget Marc Duran with “Le Printemps” where colorful flowers and short texts intermingle in the same dance; Frédéric Périmon with “Wall of sound” which celebrates Caribbean music by representing loudspeakers, cabinets and enclosures; or even Sliman Ismaili Alaou with “Pause Tendresse”, a moment of relaxation and conviviality embodied by three couples of entwined dancers. Moment that will last ... at  to follow. _VX
