Three individuals arrested for theft of a boat and two wheels

On Wednesday September 14, at 3:20 a.m., a boat is stolen from the Royal Marina in Saint-Martin.

That same day at 6:10 a.m., a walker noticed the presence of a boat stranded on the beach at Pointe Milou in Saint-Barthélemy. The person concerned noted that the boat was lying on its side and that individuals were loading mopeds on board. He immediately alerted the gendarmerie. A patrol is immediately dispatched to the scene. Three individuals immediately fled at the sight of the gendarmes. They jump into the water and head offshore to join a boat moored to a dead body. The gendarmes and the witness set off in pursuit of the three criminals who will be escorted to the beach, arrested and then placed in police custody. The three accused are young adults under the age of 20, already well known to gendarmerie services and juvenile courts in Saint-Martin and Basse-Terre. They admitted the facts during the police custody which lasted 48 hours. They were brought before the Correctional Court of Basse-Terre on Friday, September 16, and were tried in immediate court.The court pronounced sentences ranging from 18 months to 3 years of imprisonment. The three accused were imprisoned at the end of the hearing. _AF
