Since the end of March, the airlines which serve the overseas territories have been almost stopped. Now is the time for economic recovery. Companies are preparing to return to normal encouraged by communities worried about the consequences of this crisis.

The government intends to revive the tourism sector affected by the health crisis caused by the Covid-19. The Minister for Overseas announced Monday, June 8, that the compelling reasons for traveling overseas will no longer be necessary from June 22, that the number of weekly flights will be gradually increased and that the passenger limit per flight ( around 200 people) will be deleted.

Annick Girardin said that she would bring together the airlines serving the overseas territories in the coming days to finalize the new flight organization. For the moment, only Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport is open in Paris. Orly is due to reopen on June 26. Since May 11, wearing a mask is mandatory at airports and planes.

Air France

By the end of June and subject to the lifting of travel restrictions, Air France plans to gradually resume flights, with a gradual increase in the number of frequencies and destinations, in particular to the Overseas Territories (Cayenne, Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre, Saint-Denis de La Réunion, Saint-Martin).

This flight program represents approximately 15% of the capacity normally deployed during this period. In order to support its customers in the context of traffic recovery, Air France regularly adjusts its flight program and updates it daily across all distribution channels.
