Agriculture in the outermost European regions (ORs) was on the agenda last Tuesday in the Senate with the motion for a European resolution on the unsuitability of agricultural standards and European trade policy to the specificities of these areas. Guillaume Arnell, senator from the Rassemblement Démocratique et Social Européenne (RDSE), commented on this subject: “The French ORs are of course an integral part of the nation but, their geographical fragmentation, the small size of their territory, the weakness of their export market (…) means that these regions must find differentiated applications for French and European regulations to take better account of these specificities. ” The RDSE group supports this motion for a resolution. _EH
