As part of a school exchange, 35 CM2 children from the French lycée in Chicago came to the island last year. An initiative of Alphonse de Lamartine primary school and René Descartes college-high school, located in Hope Estate. Earlier this month, it was the turn of the 27 students from the Saint-Martin school to go to Chicago. On their return, four 5th year pupils - Romeo, Romain, Clélia and Elie - wished to relate this great adventure in writing.

Here is an excerpt: “The pupils (…) discovered the Willis Tower (527m high), the Beans (silver statue of Anish Kapoor), the zoo, the Sheed Aquarium, the Field museum, the Navy Pier and the Art Institute. They deepened their knowledge of English thanks to their friendly penpals where they stayed. ” _EH
