A NEW FINAL AT THE 2016 DOLPHIN TELECOM GOLF TROPHY

0

This weekend the 3rd Trophée Dauphin Telecom had taken its marks in Mullet Bay. This 2-day competition brought together 60 players this year. The windy weather on Saturday gave way to a perfect day for golf on Sunday. On arrival in the 1st series, the queen category, a perfect equality for the 1st place intervened between… Emmanuel and Pierre Garcia, the father and the son… How then to determine the winner…?

In such a case, the rules require that additional holes be played together, in “sudden death” to designate the winner.

Unheard of in Mullet Bay. Emmanuel was hitting a super drive from right to left (a “draw”) on hole 1. Pierre sent a missile straight ahead, but his ball remained in play. All the players in the competition followed the players on the fairway to witness this. outcome full of suspense. Pierre's second shot saw his ball slip to the back of the green and go up the slope a little. Emmanuel meanwhile saw his second shot stop on the green 4 m behind the flag. Pierre was playing a difficult 3rd shot and his ball went over the hole by 2m. Emmanuel saw his putt stop 30 cm from the hole, ensuring him a par (par 4). Pierre had to "fit" his putt to stay "alive". Everyone was holding their breath… and Peter's ball… brushed against the hole without entering it. Papa had won and succeeded his son who had won it brilliantly in 2015. After having recovered a little, the players remaining on the spot took part in good humor in an approach competition at 80m (H) and 50m (D ) on hole 1 won by Marc Van Iersel and in a putting competition on the green of 9 won by Samuel Stanley. Both won a GP watch. The prize-giving took place around 17 p.m. in a great atmosphere followed by a draw to award a multitude of prizes offered by several members of the Tamarins.
