Ultra-Trail (TransMartinique 2019): The great challenge of the “Dream of Trail” team

0

Eleven residents of "Dream of Trail" will participate this weekend in the TransMartinique, an ultra-trail organized in a single stage, at free speed in a limited time and in semi self-sufficiency.

The TransMartinique crosses Martinique from north to south over 134 km with 5 meters of elevation gain! The course consists mainly of paths, trails and hiking routes, forests, tracks through agricultural plantations: bananas, sugar cane, pineapple and small country roads. This sporting event is for excellent walkers or runners who are fully trained and in excellent physical condition.

The Manikou Club Organizations  does not ask for a reference and does not require that the participants have already participated in similar tests.

However, the route of the TransMartinique being demanding, it is recommended to have already participated in a race of the same level of difficulty.

To participate, it is essential to be fully aware of the length and specificity of the event and to be fully trained for it. It is necessary to have acquired, prior to the race, a real capacity of personal autonomy allowing to manage the problems induced by this type of test, in particular to know how to manage the physical or mental problems resulting from a great tiredness, the problems digestive, muscle or joint pain, small injuries…

To meet this great challenge, the Dream of Trail trailers have been training five times a week since last August under the guidance of Thiery Espagnet, the coach.

After having distinguished herself last October at the Volcano by finishing the 60km event in a very good second place in her category, Sophie Hassapis hopes to “complete” the 134 km of the TransMartinique in 36 hours and in good physical condition. That's all the harm we can wish him and his Dream of Trail comrades engaged in this life-size challenge! _AF
