Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (TEATT) Ludmila de Weever told the Council of Ministers press conference on Wednesday that around 1000 passengers from the United States will have arrived in Saint-Martin by the end of the week.

Ms de Weever's statement was made in response to reporters who asked her about passenger numbers for the first week after the country's reopening to the United States.

For the first two days, Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2, she said about 740 international passengers landed at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), including 540 from the United States.

A flight from the United States arrived on Tuesday and two more arrived on Wednesday. About 150 people were on these flights, Ms De Weever said.

“We have a small fill because it was difficult for travelers to receive their test results within 72 hours. We are not going to deviate from this procedure in the near future as this is how we minimize any exposure to high risk or medium risk areas, ”she said.
