Last Friday, members of the Soroptimist International Club of Saint-Martin erected a stele in the gardens of the Hôtel de la Collectivité in memory of women victims of violence.
All the members thank the president of the Collectivity for his support, who was very sensitive to this cause. “We appreciated the speeches of Mrs. Bette Levy, representative of the Soroptimist International Club of New York, and of the UN, of Mrs. Annick PETRUS, vice-president of the Community, responsible for the education and social poles and of Mrs. Régine PAM , secretary general of the Prefecture of Saint-Barth and Saint-Martin. Two women who witnessed the suffering of families also shared their experiences with us. Thank you to them and to the guests for their presence and their support ”.
Today, in Saint Martin or elsewhere, violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in the world. Stop the violence! _AF
