TRANSPORT: A new director at Grand-Case airport

One of the projects of Sesma, the company in charge of the management and operation of the Grand Case airport, is to develop business aviation which will be led by the new managing director, Loïc La Joye arrived in Saint-Martin just after Irma.

"It's a new challenge, a new experience," he says. He worked at Le Bourget and Nice in airport assistance. He also spent two years in Dubai where he was in charge of assisting companies in private aviation. He therefore relies on his know-how and professional experience to develop this activity in Grand Case. "Here we start from scratch," he notes. “But the business clientele is not imaginary. She's there. When we look around, this clientele is there, they are already traveling in our region ”, underlines Loïc La Joye who will therefore have to develop a strategy to attract them to Saint-Martin. And one of the actions will be to promote Grand Case with this clientele.

To do this, he intends to rely on his network of contacts. “Business aviation is a very small world. It's the same clientele, it's the same assistance companies found in airports around the world. Planes are shared in management, ”explains Loïc la Joye, who has already worked with these companies and who therefore knows their expectations and requirements as well as those of their customers.

If the extension of the runway is one of the conditions for business development, it is not the only one.

"We have to set up all the necessary services and the quality of these services will make the difference", assures the director. Among these services, reception, on-track support, luggage transport, concierge, quick refueling, etc. The director would also like to offer services that are not offered by Juliana, for example "slots". A slot is a time slot that an airline can buy in order to obtain priority to take off and land during this time slot. According to Loïc La Joye, this could be a real asset for Grand Case airport, which, combined with efficient services, would make it possible to compete with Sint Maarten.
