Final of the Guadeloupe Open and Hope 2016 Championship
We don't stop it anymore! Camille-Elena Lavocat won last weekend, the double title of champion of Guadeloupe in Open and Hope surfing.
More than four trips to Guadeloupe and St Barth were necessary to participate in all the competitions of the 2015/2016 regional hopeful calendar. Twelve competitors from SXMWaterboys & Girls du Galion had qualified for the final this year.
Eight of them made the trip last weekend in Guadeloupe to the Moule and Anse Salabouelle spot.
The Saturday day was devoted to minimal series, cadet surfing, U14 and Junior waves and the Sunday day for the youngest and open surf all categories.
On the podiums, Camille Lavocat wins a double title of champion of Guadeloupe in Open and Hope surfing. An exemplary, regular surfing season and an ever more committed, explosive surf that will have made the difference once again throughout the championship.
Camille will participate this summer in Europe in several Pro Junior competitions. She will also be part of the selection courses for the preparation for the next ISA Junior and European World Championships.
Thomas Doumenjou, leading the 2016 hope championship and third in the last French championship, climbs to the third step of the Podium in Guadeloupe. The Waterboy of the Galion will be in France this summer to participate in the competitions of the Junior Pro circuit and will be present at the selection camp for the qualifications for the next World and European Junior ISA Championship.
The outsider Watergirl of this competition that nobody expected at this level is called Kenza Baudouin from St-Martin Surf Club. After a remarkable second place last February in St-Barth, it won a fine third step of the podium in its category. A very good performance for this young surfer from Saint-Martin with great potential.
