With the approach of the Sint Maarten elections to be held on Monday 26 February, the prosecution is raising awareness among candidates and voters of the fight against fraud and corruption.

He reminds us that buying votes by promising money or services is prohibited by law. Offering bribes is punishable by two years' imprisonment. The prosecution specifies that a person offering it may be deprived of certain rights, such as the right to stand for election. Corruption attempts are also punished, as are those who accept gifts.

The Sint Maarten public prosecutor's office invites anyone with knowledge of such acts (purchase of votes) to report them to the National Detective Agency by calling +1721 5225810-XNUMX. Anonymity will be respected. (Source: www.soualigapost.com)
