SOCIETY: Launch of the working group on resilience to major risks

0

On June 20, the French Association for the Prevention of Natural and Technological Disasters (AFPCNT) launched its first "Saint-Martin Working Group" to bring together the various local actors working in the field of risk reduction to share their experiences and best practices.

If the Overseas territories are confronted with many natural risks (flood, hurricane, ground movement, seismic, tsunami, technological, lack of water, grounding of Sargassum), their populations often develop resilient practices and the powers public authorities implement specific policies. It is therefore important to promote, federate and develop the initiatives taken. It is in this context and with the participation of organizations such as the DEAL, the Collectivity, the Saint-Martin Nature Reserve, the CAAG, the CESC, the Compagnons Bâtisseurs, the City Policy, the SEMSAMAR (in video) and citizens that the AFPCNT working group "Resilience of overseas territories to major risks", led by Lauriane Belleterre, West Indies-Guyana territorial referent, is now set up in Saint-Martin following the field study and the networking of local actors by Yseult Dubernet from Y Agency. Various themes were discussed during this meeting, such as upgrading upstream prevention, taking the environment into account, communication on the PPRN, risk management, information to the public and young people, the problem construction and reconstruction or the preservation of water resources. The idea is to be in action, all together in a common approach. Next September, a report on the work undertaken by the working group will be available. To be continued. _VX
