On Monday February 18, police in Sint Maarten arrested a suspect in the Simpson Bay area, on Welfare Road.

The emergency dispatch center received a call regarding a man suspected of having possession of several stolen items. When patrols arrived at the scene, the suspect was questioned and it was clear that he was indeed in possession of items for which he could not provide proof of ownership. All the items were confiscated. The suspect was placed under arrest and taken to the police station for questioning.

Police are well aware that the suspect committed burglaries in the Simpson Bay / Pelican area. The investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking all residents, especially those in the Simpson Bay / Pelican area, who may have been the victims of a burglary in the past two weeks, to report it to your community police officer or detective service. . Anyone who may have witnessed a burglary is also asked to contact the police department's TIP line at 9:00 a.m. or visit the Philipsburg station.
