Actions within the framework of the Handicap Week continue in Saint-Martin under the slogan “Giving my handicap a cap”: the population is invited this Wednesday to the open days of Sessad, from 9 am to 16 pm, in Marigot.

The Sessad - education and home care service for disabled young people - opened in 2007. The team supports 47 children throughout the year, specifies the president of the association Coralita Rose Nicolas, the management body of Sessad: “We work a lot on the education of disabled children, on their home and therapeutic care.” Sessad director Fernando Semedo adds that most of the children at the center have intellectual disabilities. “We have several types of professionals who take care of them: specialized educators, psychomotor therapists, an occupational therapist, psychologists, specialized teachers and a social worker. Our goal is for children to acquire autonomy so that they can integrate into society ”, he emphasizes. In order to raise students' awareness of disability, the Sessad team will carry out interventions in schools throughout the week. The center is located at 15 rue de la Liberté in Marigot.
