Health / Vaccinodrome: 4000 people received at least a first dose

Set up on May 4, the vaccinodrome should close its doors at the end of July.

The recent deterioration of the health situation in the territory, the measures put in place to remedy it, as well as the new travel conditions following the lifting of compelling reasons and the approach of school holidays have, it seems, convinced more of Saint-Martinois to take the leap of vaccination.

"We vaccinate an average of 150 people per day and have seen an increase since the beginning of June," suggests Cédric Jeannot, coordinator of the Galisbay vaccine park for the Red Cross. Located on the site of the Carnival village, opposite the Galisbay car park, this center opened its doors on May 4th. The Red Cross acts as an operator on behalf of the ARS, the prefecture and the COM.

Accessible without an appointment from 8 a.m. to 16 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, this system mainly appeals to an active population, aged 35 to 50 years. All you need is proof of residence in Saint-Martin (electricity, water, telephone bill, etc.) or a Vitale card to benefit from the Pfizer bioNtech vaccine. The operation takes about twenty minutes between the administrative procedures, the injection and the monitoring. During these different stages, candidates for vaccination are supervised every day by six Red Cross employees, three nurses, a firefighter and a doctor.

“Since June 15, vaccination is open to minors from 12 to 18 years old. For the moment, only the messenger RNA vaccine Pfizer BioNTech has a marketing authorization for 12 years and over. For the vaccination of minors, the authorization of both parents is required. In the event of the absence of one of the two parents, the parent present fills out the certificate and undertakes on the honor to have previously obtained the consent of the absent parent and co-holder of parental authority. Likewise, a parental certificate (available on the website of the Ministry of Solidarity and Health) must be collected and then kept systematically. ” indicates the ARS.

The vaccinodrome is designed to accommodate 300 to 400 people per day and is therefore not running at full capacity. However, its manager notes that "if the population of Saint-Martin seemed reluctant to be vaccinated at the start of the campaign, it is ultimately receptive since 4000 people have received at least a first dose on the vaccinodrome". And estimates to reach 6000 people in total by the closure of the center scheduled for the end of July. More information on www.soualigapost.com
