Running: The first Saint-Martin marathon announced for December 11

0

This is a first in the landscape of runners on our island. The very first Saint-Martin marathon is announced for December 11, 2022. Under the aegis of SXM Road Runner, the Ennia SXM Marathon will offer four formulas to satisfy insiders and beginners alike. Races of 5 and 10 km will be organized as well as a half and a marathon.

The 42,195 km course is already known since it will take the runners from Fort Amsterdam around the island passing by World Mart and  Upper Prince's quarter, Oyster Pond, Quartier d'Orléans, Hope Estate to descend to Marigot via the waterfront. Then, the runners will pass by Bellevue and the Causeway bridge, Simpson Bay, the heights of Cul-de-Sac (Dutch part) and finally transplant to Phillipsburg. Undeniably, there will be some elevation for the intrepid launched into the big loop.

"We have always wanted to offer a marathon in Saint-Martin, but we thought there would not be enough interest", assures Susy Maidwell Piscione, organizer. “Now, with so many long distance trail runners and runners on the island, we believe the time is right.

The course will be very challenging but super cool for anyone wanting to run a full distance.”

If you already want to register, you can do so via the SXM Road Runner Facebook page or at Tri sport. _pc
